Memorial Day
365.150
Victory Memorial Drive is the country's largest WWI memorial. It is three miles of green space and bike paths dotted with plaques honoring fallen soldiers from Hennepin county - 568 in total. On Memorial Day, flags fly above each of these markers. Quite a sight.

Moving
365.148
Chris and Kaitlin are moving to San Fran. I'm super excited for them and the adventures they're going to have.
I'll miss them.

I can keep my composure at any number of tragic events. It's part of my job. But talking with families of fallen soldiers... Always hard.

Out of the box
365.145
Got home at 11:40 on Wednesday and realized that the day's photos were crap. So I spent twenty minutes playing with the light from a lamp in my living room.

I want to go back to the train yards in NE at sunset. I spent about 10 minutes up here on my way into work. I definitely could wander around some more. A good sunset with color and clouds could make some great images.
146 days in I'm going strong and am happy with the project. But with 219 more looming on the horizon, I feel a need for some direction. A weekly theme? A challenge? Maybe. I'm going to mull it over.

Scorekeepers
365.144
Working on a fun Twins blog with Tracy. We got to watch a ballgame with the official scorekeepers. Thanks to Gregg, Stew and Barry for letting us ask them all sorts of crazy questions and for putting up with the camera.

Storms
365.141
A storm rolled through Saturday while I was in the basement of the capitol. It's near the end of the session and there's tons going on. The house voted on whether or not to let voters decide if a ban on gay marriage should be put in the constitution. Our political reporter says it was the most emotional nights of testimonies in memory. And he's been around long enough to know.

The grass has gotten away from me. A mowing is definitely needed. I took this photo just before a tornado hit about 20 blocks south of my house. Maybe 2.5 miles away. It got busy with work, as you might imagine. I didn't take my SLR out of the bag, but I shot tons of video. This is a still frame from the day.
*edit: Goody and I worked out of the truck together covering the tornado. He had James take a photo of us. We are so badass.

The Killer
365.140
An incredible ballplayer, and an incredible man. One of the signs left at his statue says, "No. 3 will always be No. 1 in our hearts."

Twilight
365.139
Today was a day. And quite a day at that. I walked for a bit on the parkway before dark, so things are good.

Cold. Again.

365.133
As suddenly as it was summer this past weekend, it is right back to early spring. Cold and gray. It appears that I don't need to move back to Oregon. Oregon weather has come to Minneapolis. All I need is a mountain and an ocean, and i'll be set.

Suddenly Summer
365.130
Cool and comfortable to hot and humid. Perfect day today. Grilled, ran, ran through the sprinklers, read my book on the front porch with a beer while the storm rolled in.

126 - I never know where my job will take me. Today it took me to a figure skating show.
127 - Spring! Finally! Where have you been all my life.
128 - Mom's day! Thanks to my mom for letting me take her photo. Though I did make her uncomfortable. Apparently I need to work on my people skills.

Baker

Terri makes cakes. I'm shooting a story about her cakes - but there's more to do, so I won't say any more.

3 Months

Jude's parents prepare him for the next month of life by subjecting him to yet another photo shoot. Being a baby is tough.

365.121
119 - Louis Zamperini. Amazing. I can't believe I got to meet this guy.
120 - Joey's 5th birthday party. He loved showing off his new toys.
121 - Caroline's going away party. She's leaving us for warmer climes. Moving to California. I don't blame her. Today was 35 and snowing.
